Abstract

Balance is a complex interaction and integration, or the interaction of the sensory system (vestibular, visual, and somatosensory, including proprioception) and the musculoskeletal system (muscles, joints, and other soft tissues) that is modified/regulated in the brain (motor control, sensory, basal ganglia, cerebellum, and association areas) in response to changes in external and internal conditions. Poor balance can lead to an increased risk of falls, especially in the elderly who have experienced degenerative disorders. Education on balance in the elderly is urgent as it can reduce the potential for fall risk in the elderly. The education method in this program includes checking the balance of the elderly (pre-test), providing educational counseling on body balance and fall risk, and rechecking the balance (post-test) for evaluation. In addition, there are examinations of vital signs, blood sugar, uric acid, and cholesterol. The expectation of this dedication is to reduce the fall risk in the elderly, supporting their daily activities. The output of this dedication is in the form of a national dedication journal. The results of this service ran smoothly and contributed to efforts to prevent fall risk among the elderly at Posyandu in Gonilan village
