Abstract

This qualitative study explores safety attitudes and behaviours among 40 veteran/senior transportation students. Through interviews, observations, and analysis of course records, the research investigates perceptions, compliance, risk awareness, and training adequacy. Findings reveal a strong safety culture with high compliance but highlight the need for enhanced risk awareness and refined safety training. The study underscores the importance of promoting a robust safety culture within transportation education and collaborating with industry partners to align programmes with industry standards. By addressing identified gaps, transportation institutions can play a pivotal role in fostering safety excellence within the industry, contributing to safer and more sustainable transportation systems.
