Abstract

Human body odor usually occurs due to overproduction of sweat glands and the presence of bacteria. Antiperspirants are cosmetic preparations used to reduce the amount of sweat released by narrowing the pores of the sweat glands, both eccrine and apocryphal. Tawas (aluminum potassium sulfate) is a traditional antiperspirant that functions to improve body odor, works by inhibiting sweat secretion by shrinking pores. Essential oils are defined as products of steam distillation from parts of a plant, essential oils can contain tens or hundreds of volatile and non-volatile mixed ingredients which are the cause of the characteristic aroma. In this study a deodorant spray preparation was made. The materials used are water, alum and essential oil.The research method used was experimentation with samples in the form of essential oils that make deodorant sprays and evaluation of the stability of the preparations which included bacterial activity tests and irritation tests were carried out.
